This is the moment a chubby rat appears to tuck into a fragrant curry at a restaurant in Malaysia.

The incident was filmed in the township of Bandar Tun Razak in the western Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur and the footage was shared on Facebook by ‘We Are Malaysians’ where it has been viewed nearly 50,000 times.

In the footage, a diner is seen zooming in on the displayed hot plates at the front of the store.

With its bum in the air and head buried in the rice dish, the rat is seen munching away in full view of the restaurant’s clientele.

After a while, the rodent steps fully into the dish and continues tucking into the fragrant curry.

A worker appears to pass the cameraperson’s table and someone points out that there is a rat in the food.

The man is then heard shouting at the peckish rat which quickly clambers out of the hot plate and runs off.

According to local media, the chubby rat was filmed enjoying a ‘nasi lemak’, a fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf that is considered a national dish in Malaysia.

It is currently unclear whether the local authorities are looking into the matter.
