This viral video that caused outrage after reportedly showing a “kid” driving a car on the motorway has been exposed as fake news after he was tracked down by Life.ru and revealed to be an 18-year-old with baby-face features.

The young man, who looks nowhere like 18, was recorded by another amused motorist driving a Subaru WRX S4 car on a motorway in the city of Vladivostok in south-eastern Russia’s Primorskiy Krai region.

However, after the video of the “kid” was put online, journalists looked into the matter and found out that the supposed “child” had a full licence to drive.

They identified the young man only as Nikita, 18, who said he is already used to people taking him for a kid.

He said: “I face it all the time. It no longer upsets me, and I am rather positive about it. I have a good laugh all the time.”

Nikita notes that people who do not know him usually stress that it is impossible that he is 18.

“Then I show them my driver’s licence and my passport, they usually get very surprised.”

The other person who was in the car’s cabin when Nikita got filmed was his grandmother whom he was giving a lift to a hospital that day.

Local media report that Nikita has bought his Subaru just a few days ago, and still hasn’t registered it, which is why the vehicle did not have any number plates which is seemingly legal in Russia.

According to Nikita it is not the first time people would record him on camera but it was indeed the first time when someone had apparently uploaded it online.
