The youngster’s parents, named only by their first names Asok and Annapurna, said their son Loknath had been suffering pain in his back and anus for half a year.

But they only found the problem with the three-year-old after they spotted a needle poking out of his muscles as they bathed him at home in Wanaparthy district in the central Indian state of Telangana.

The concerned parents reportedly took him to hospital where they told the doctors their son had been unwell and seemingly in pain for the last five to six months.

The doctors recommended the boy undergo an X-ray and were shocked when scans showed the boy had 10 more needles below his waist, close to his kidneys.

The toddler underwent emergency surgery and doctors removed eight of the needles which could reportedly be seen protruding through the tot’s anus.

Images show the mettle sewing needles removed from the boy’s body.

Police Sub-Inspector Waheed Ali said the remaining three needles will be removed from the boy’s body at a later date as they are “lodged” in “sensitive area”.

Doctors at Wanaparthy Government Hospital recommended the parents lodge a complaint with the police. In their complaint, the parents reportedly named two neighbours, Alivelamma and Golla Anji, as suspects.

The suspects are said to have often taken the victim to play with them.

Police have registered a case under sections 324 (causing hurt with dangerous weapons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act (Punishment for cruelty to child) but investigators are waiting for the doctors’ reports before starting the investigation, according to reports.
