Chems Warehouse Turns Fireball With Huge Bang

This is the moment a fire at a warehouse housing hazardous chemicals erupts into a loud fireball which shattered windows over a mile away.

Local residents in the township of Zhangwan, which is in Donghai County in East China’s Jiangsu Province, reported hearing a succession of three explosions coming from the grounds of the Hengyou Building Materials Company.

The fire at the construction firm, which supplies both private and government projects, started in its storage facility at 8:11pm local time on 8th September, a statement by the county’s Emergency Management Office said.

Video taken by witnesses shows bright flames burning above the warehouse before the chemical blaze erupts with a loud roar.

Provincial fire services comprising 14 fire engines and 70 firefighters were dispatched to the factory grounds and brought the flames under control some two and a half hours later, officials said.

According to the Emergency Management Office, traces of sulphuric acid and other chemical agents were discovered on the ground.

First responders have so far reported no casualties from the accident at the plant, which was first established in 2006.

An investigation into the blaze was still ongoing.

Officials did not say whether local residents would be evacuated.
