Baffled medics removed a three-foot-long cable from a lad’s stomach after he had gone in complaining of nausea and stomach pains.
The 15-year-old boy had been taken by his family to hospital in Diyarbakir, south-eastern Turkey, after complaining of vomiting, nausea, and abdominal agony.
But when medics gave him an X-ray, they were baffled to find a curled-up device charging cable in his stomach, as seen in this bizarre image.
Medical staff sent him by ambulance to Firat University Hospital in Elazig – a two- to three-hour drive away.
There, Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Department head Professor Yasar Dogan and his team removed the foreign object via an endoscopy procedure.
They were also flummoxed when a hair tie came out as well, as seen in the second image.
Dr Dogan told local media: “We obviously had a hard time removing the cable, as one end of the cable had passed into the small intestine.”
When it came out, the team was astonished at how long it was, with the cable reaching one metre (three feet) in length when stretched out.
Dr Dogan told local media: “After the procedure was successfully concluded, the patient was sent home in good health.”
The circumstances under which the charging cable and hair tie ended up in the boy’s stomach are unclear.
