CAR CHASE: LAPD Cops Arrest Shooter Who Crashes Car While Fleeing

This dramatic footage shows LAPD officers entering a high-speed chase and ultimately arresting a shooter who crashed into a vehicle as he was fleeing.

Newsflash obtained the footage from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), along with a statement according to which the incident took place in the city of Los Angeles, in the US state of California.

The LAPD said: “Southeast Division Gang Enforcement Detail officers responded to a radio call reporting shots fired in the 11000 block of South Broadway.

“While in the area conducting their investigation, officers encountered the suspect in an alley west of Broadway and south of 111th Street. The suspect fired at the officers, who returned fire.”

Body-worn footage shows the officers and the suspect, later identified as Genaro Guevara, 36, shooting back and forth at each other before Guevara takes off fleeing in his car.

Officers then start pursuing him at a high speed for a short while, before Guevara crashes into another car and starts attempting to escape the accident and run away.

But cops were already behind his tail and surrounded the site of the crash, leaving Guevara with no choice but to surrender.

Guevara was put into handcuffs and was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel to treat his non-life-threatening injuries caused by the traffic collision.

The person in the vehicle the suspect struck received medical treatment at the scene, the LAPD said.

No officers were injured during the incident.

Three handguns were found inside the suspect’s vehicle and were collected as evidence by investigators, according to the statement.

Guevara was reportedly booked for the attempted murder of a police officer.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
