These are the chaotic scenes inside a school after a blundering woman driver muddled up the pedals beneath her feet and crashed straight through the entrance injuring three pupils.

Two boys and girl – all believed to be primary-age schoolchildren – were sent to hospital following the accident in the city of Ningguo in East China’s Anhui Province on 8th July.

Authorities said the driver, surnamed Fang, was travelling west on Longxi Road when she attempted to park on the pavement outside the Lexue Aoshu mathematics cram school.

In an official statement, the police said Fang “mishandled” the hatchback by “erroneously stepping on the accelerator instead of the brake”.

As a result, she crashed headlong into the cram school entrance, punching through a plasterboard wall and shattering a glass door at 8:55am local time.

Videos taken in the aftermath of the crash show the woman’s white hatchback parked inside the school as a paramedic carries out an injured pupil.

The authorities said all three children were stable and not in any life-threatening condition.

Fang was detained for questioning, but she is not suspected of drink-driving, the police said.

It is unclear how much damage the crash has caused or whether Fang was dropping her child off at the cram school when the accident happened.

Investigations are ongoing.
