This is the moment a bungling Rudolph leads Father Christmas’ sleigh into the side of a building during a festive show in front of a large crowd of spectators.

The incident was filmed in the town of Apizaco in the central Mexican state of Tlaxcala and the footage was later shared on social media where it has been widely circulated.

According to local media, a large crowd gathered in the town centre to watch the turning on of the Christmas lights and the highly-anticipated arrival of Santa and his reindeer.

In the video footage, a Santa impersonator is seen waving from an illuminated sleigh suspended from cables high in the air.

While a PA announcer introduces Santa, he is seen whizzing through the night sky towards a building emblazoned with adverts and groups of people standing on balconies.

The crowd gasps as the sleigh clips the top of the building and nearly topples over.

According to local media, the miscalculation was caused by the added weight of the presents on board the sleigh.

Luckily, Santa was unhurt in the incident.

Netizen ‘Elarmyalex’ commented: “Why can’t anything ever go right in Mexico?!”

‘Lolitabetancour’ said: “He should be fined for hitting the building, why should Santa be treated differently to others?”

‘Robeme11’ wrote: “I think Santa was probably drunk, haha.”
