This footage shows a man with a metal pole beating a youth tied to a post because he was angry that the victim had been WhatsApping a female member of his family.

In the footage, the young victim is seen tied to a concrete post as a man in a blue shirt hits his back with a long pole.

The incident took place in Kanthaddhar in the city of Rapar in the north-western Indian state of Gujarat and was posted online where it has been widely circulated.

The suspect then shouts at the young man before whacking his back.

At one point he slaps the victim’s head and pulls his hair while at least two other accompanying men are seen walking around the concrete post.

Local police have confirmed that they are still trying to identify the victim in the footage as his face is not seen at any point.

However, cops have reportedly identified the men in the video although it is unclear whether they have been arrested yet.

Police spokesperson L.L. Chawda said: “The victim used to send WhatsApp messages to the girl belonging to the accused’s family, according to the statements of people of Kanthaddhar locality.”

He added: “Although the identities of the accused have been ascertained, we don’t know anything about the victim.”
