This is the shocking moment a bull leaps over an arena’s protective fence into a packed crowd where it reportedly injured 10 spectators during a rodeo event in Chile.
The incident took place in the town of Huasco Bajo in the western Chilean region of Atacama during the South American country’s two-day ‘Fiestas Patrias’ to mark Chile’s Independence Day on 18th September.
According to local media, the bull panicked when it was surrounded by several cowboys on horseback and leaped over the fence into the crowd where it injured 10 people, including three children.
The video shows the bull being chased by cowboys on horseback before heading towards the spectator’s stand and jumping over the protective fence.
Reports said that the victims were first attended to by volunteer firefighters at the scene before those who needed further treatment were taken to hospital.
Police spokesman Felipe Jimenez told local media: “Nine people had minor injuries, while one suffered a deep slash across the front of their body although the victim does not appear to be in a life-threatening situation.”
Due to the incident, all other festival activities were reportedly suspended.
Meanwhile, the escaped bull was promptly captured and reports did not mention what happened to it afterwards.
Netizen ‘Violeta Marifil L’ commented: “I am sorry for the injured people, but the animal just had enough of the continued abuse. I hope this animal suffering will come to an end.”
