This is the moment a brave wife chases off a machete-wielding thug in a motorcycle helmet after he sprints out of nowhere and starts hacking at her helpless hubby.

The incident occurred in the city of Ipoh located in the state of Perak in north-western Malaysia and was captured by a CCTV camera.

In the video, a couple can be seen walking from a building to their parked car.

The woman walks around the front of the car towards the passenger seat and as the man is about to get into the driver’s seat a thug carrying a machete comes sprinting towards.

The attacker, wearing a white motorcycle helmet, shoves the man to the ground and begins hacking at him with the blade.

The wife then runs around and fearlessly confronts the knifeman, dragging her husband away as he tries to hack at him further before the thug sprints from the scene.

Local media report the victim, who has not been named, was cut between five to seven times in the attack.

He was taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital were he was treated for wounds which reportedly measured seven centimetres (2.7 inches) long and four centimetres (1.5 inches) in depth.

The victim’s wife is reported as saying she believes the attack was related to her husband’s business, but the nature of the business was not specified.

An investigation has been launched into the incident and no arrests have been reported.
