A young man helping his dad work on a garbage truck has been crushed to deathwhen his father accidentally ran him over with the massive vehicle.
Victim Armando Suarez, 20, was reportedly helping his single father, Rolando Suarez, 49, collect trash when the tragic event occurred in the province of Misiones, Argentina, on the morning of 19th February.
He died from a broken skull after he was killed on the spot.
Armando was reportedly working at the back of the truck as the two went around the neighbourhood gathering the garbage when the accident happened and Rolando accidentally ran him over.
The dad was moving in reverse – apparently unaware that young Armando was standing in the way – when he heard a cry.
By the time he stopped to check, it was already too late.
Paramedics were immediately called to the scene and found Armando lying lifeless on the ground.
A forensic specialist was requested at the scene, who noted the presence of “severe polytrauma from a traffic accident with a skull fracture.”
Police later took statements from the father Rolando, and Mario, 26, another municipal employee who was accompanying the driver.
They reportedly reconstructed the steps that led to the accident and investigators also carried out a series of tests in the area to try to determine if it was an unfortunate manoeuvre by the driver or another situation that could have caused the tragedy.
Armando was the only boy out of three siblings and lived with his father, who was separated from the young lad’s mother.
His family is devastated by his untimely death.
Armando’s grief-stricken aunt, Lourdes Bogado, told local media: “His dream was to work with his dad on the garbage truck.
“It was difficult for him, but he achieved his goal and he was happy because of it.
“He was always a good boy. He wasn’t into partying, he didn’t go to dances and he didn’t have many friends.
“How do I not go out every morning to see you go by, my handsome fat man. I only ask you to give me the strength to continue, life hits us hard once again.
“It leaves me calm that you fulfilled your dream: you were always a good, loving, happy person. I will remember you for the rest of my life, I love you and I will always love you my baby. I will always be very proud of you.”
Bogado truly believes the case was an accident, according to local media.
She added: “It was an accident, it is not the father’s fault.
“We don’t want him to find himself guilty, we just want for the boy to rest in peace.”
Further investigation is being carried out to clarify the case, report local media.
Meanwhile, the local community decided to commemorate the sad event and announced there would be no garbage collecting for two days.
