This 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his teenage girlfriend to death at her family home before driving her body to hospital with her parents in the car.

The shocking incident took place in Koceljeva, a municipality located in the Machva District of western Serbia when 19-year-old Violeta Josic went to her family home after working a night shift.

Her parents Dragis and Ljiljana had let her boyfriend Dusan Petronijevic, 33, into their home so he could wait for her to return.

When Violeta returned, her father reportedly walked out into the courtyard briefly, and her mother was in another room in the house. Dusan took advantage of that and allegedly attacked the 19-year-old girl in her room with a knife.

When the father heard the screams he went into the room and started calling for help, shouting “he killed my baby!”, according to reports.

Local media report the parents were in such a state of shock they let Dusan go with them to take their daughter to the Health Centre and he reportedly drove with his hands covered in blood and still holding the knife he allegedly attacked their daughter with.

The suspect reportedly fled the hospital after dropping off the victim who was declared dead on arrival.

He was later arrested at his home after his own father called the police station and reported him to the authorities.

Reports suggest the suspect was allegedly motivated by the fact the couple had just broken up and the spurned boyfriend could not accept it.

It is unclear if the suspect has been charged.
