Ajay Ogula, 31, who worked as a driver in UAE’s most populous city Dubai became a millionaire after winning AED 15 million (GBP 3.3 million) in the lottery this month (December).

The 31-year-old man reportedly moved to the Emirates from a small village in South India about four years ago to find a decent job.

He was reportedly working as a driver for a jewellery company and earning about AED 3,200 (GBP 724) per month prior to winning the grand prize.

Ajay said: “During a random conversation with my boss, I mentioned reading about someone winning a handsome amount with Emirates Draw, to which my boss advised that ‘you keep wasting money here and there, so why not use it instead for an opportunity like this?'”

The India native then reportedly followed his employer’s advice and installed the lottery’s mobile app on his phone and purchased two tickets for Emirate Draw’s EASY6.

He added: “I was out with my friend when I received the congratulatory email.

“I thought, perhaps it’s a smaller winning amount, but when I started reading, the zeroes kept adding up, and I practically lost my mind when I learnt the final figure.”

He reportedly plans to use his winnings to build a house for his family members in Dubai and give them a fresh start.

Managing Partner at Emirates Draw, Mohammad Behroozian Alawadhi, said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “Congratulations to our Grand Prize winner, Ajay Ogula, on his epic win.

“Emirates Draw is not just about numbers and winners; it is about making a difference in people’s lives and has been the goal from day one and will remain at the heart of all we do.
