BEER WE GO: Thirsty Looters Steal Beer From Crashed Truck

This is the moment thirsty locals loot a crashed truck transporting beer after it overturned on a motorway.

The driver lost control of the double-trailer lorry on the Frontera-Villahermosa highway in Tabasco State, south-eastern Mexico on 31st October.

While the second trailer overturned, the first was left upright and was soon swamped by more than 50 looters, who wrenched the doors open.

Video footage of the chaos shows people inside the trailer hurling out slabs of beer from the side and rear doors.

They reportedly smuggled their loot away in vehicles, bags, and even in their arms before hapless police arrived on the scene and could do nothing to stop them from stripping the trailer.

The driver and his passenger had chosen not to intervene because they feared they would be overwhelmed by the mob.

Netizens took to social media to mock government claims about intelligent people from the south of the country.

‘Fernando Quezada’ commented: “The intelligent people from the south! Said someone from the government.”

‘Martin Silva Valtierra’ wrote: “Let the next one be a trailer with books. The people of Tabasco are smarter…”

And ‘MaduroCurioso’ joked: “It’s just that everyone’s smarter there!”
