This beautiful mum has tragically lost her life after the motorbike she was riding pillion on crashed, with the rider arrested for drink-driving and manslaughter.

Maiara Prado, 33, was returning from a motorcycle event in the municipality of Penha, in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, when the crash happened.

The accident took place on the BR-101 motorway during its stretch through the municipality of Itajai in the early hours of Sunday, 13th March.

The rider, whose identity was not divulged, suffered minor injuries to his body and was arrested on the spot for drink-driving and manslaughter.

Prado, who was riding pillion, died at the scene. She was later buried at the Parque dos Crisantemos (Park of Chrysanthemums) Cemetery in Itajai.

At the time of reporting, Prado boasted 18,700 followers on Instagram. She worked at a company called CMPremium, a condominium management organisation.

According to her Instagram bio, she originally hailed from the west-central state of Mato Grosso, and she leaves behind a young son, whose initials are J.P.

In an Instagram post, she wrote of J.P.: “You are my motive and strength to carry on. I am proud of the son that you are, and the mother that I am to you.”

Prado also appears to have been a keen supporter of Brazilian top-flight football side Palmeiras, from the south-eastern city of Sao Paulo.

In a message of condolence posted to social media, CMPremium called her an “exemplary professional and an unforgettable friend”.

The relevant authorities did not give any further detail about the nature of the crash.
