Beachgoers have posted these pictures of what they believed was a jellyfish swept up on the coast but later realised it was a fake breast.

The strange incident happened at the Jicama beach in the port city of Coatzacoalcos in the Mexican state of Veracruz and was reported earlier this week (3rd May).

The city lies in the southern part of the Gulf of Mexico.

The pictures show one of the curious beachgoers poking the strange object with a stick apparently afraid to touch it while others show the clear gelatinous blob on the sand.

A netizen who uploaded the pictures said it was found by people walking along the beach who approached it thinking it was a Portuguese man o’ war due to its translucent gelatinous appearance as some even took selfies.

However, after someone decided to examine it closer, they realised it was actually a silicone breast that they had been taking pictures with.

It is unclear if they found a breast implant or a silicone breast enhancer, however, local media said the likeliest theory is that it came out off someone’s bikini top when they entered the water.

The incident was criticised by some saying that people should be more careful as the fake breast could’ve been eaten by a sea animal thinking it was a medusa.
