This is the moment a shoplifting teacher is filmed by supermarket staff as they force her to empty her handbag at the checkout till.
The supermarket staff in Puerto Iguazu, Misiones Province, northern Argentina can be heard telling the woman: “You are educating our children, ma’am. You have to set an example.”
The video has reportedly gone viral on social media in Argentina since being shot on 15th November, with the woman seen trying to leave the supermarket with her handbag full of goods.
When the supermarket staff call her out on it, she apologises and then tries to take her bag back into the shop.
But they make her empty out the goods at the checkout. She can then be seen leaving with some of the goods that she had purchased, leaving the allegedly stolen goods on the checkout counter.
The footage reportedly caused outrage on social media, with the teacher identified only as C. P.
Her husband, said to be a high-ranking police officer, but who has not been named, reportedly told local media that she suffers from mental health issues.
He reportedly told the authorities that his wife is in the process of undergoing “psychiatric treatment” and suffers from “impulse disorder”.
He also provided a number of medical certificates to back up his claim.
It is currently unclear if any action is going to be taken against the teacher.
