This is the moment a man on a scooter kicks a pensioner in the back as he rides past before reportedly telling arresting police that he was “in a bad mood”.
The incident happened in the town of Liangying in Shantou City, which is in South China’s Guangdong Province.
Traffic camera footage shows the pensioner, who appears to be female, walking by the side of the road and carrying a bag of her belongings when the unnamed suspect rides past.
Without warning, the scooter suspect extends his right leg and boots the elderly pedestrian in the back, sending her crashing hard against the ground.
The suspect then rides off as if nothing has happened, the video shows.
According to reports, the victim’s family said the pensioner did not know or recognise her aggressor.
They reported the incident to the police, who tracked the scooter rider down and arrested him for alleged assault.
The suspect, whose name has yet to be disclosed by the authorities, reportedly told investigators that he was “in a bad mood” when he kicked the pensioner.
The victim is not believed to have been seriously injured, while the suspect remains in custody and is expected to face a minor sentence of between five to 15 days for a public order offence.
