An aquarium is looking for a professional diver to maintain the windows so that visitors can get a better look at the marine life that includes huge sharks.

The job offer is being made by the Biarritz Aquarium, which is located in Biarritz, an elegant seaside town on southwestern France’s Basque coast, that has been a popular resort since European royalty began visiting in the 1800s.

In order to see the fish in an aquarium clearly, they said they need to have the glass cleaned regularly.

And as it is not practical to drain the huge tanks every time this needs to be done, they need to employ a window cleaner who also needs to be a professional diver.

The job was advertised on the Aquarium’s Facebook page saying: “For the maintenance of its aquariums (windows, strainers, etc.), the Aquarium de Biarritz is looking for a professional diver. Diving in about ten tanks, to a depth of 9 metres. 6-month fixed-term contract / 8 hours per week.”

Reacting to the announcement many people showed interest saying “I’m interested,” or asking “can I apply?”

The aquarium did not comment on whether the new applicant would also be cleaning out the shark tank.

The Aquarium of Biarritz, or the Museum of the Sea, was opened in 1933. It went through the first renovation in 1992 where extra exhibits were added including many more marine animals.
