A German man has reportedly sliced off his own penis with a folding razor while under the influence of cannabis.

The 47-year-old man called the emergency services in Mainz, capital of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, shortly before midnight earlier this week to inform them about the incident.

Paramedics and police officers immediately went to the address where they found the man holding his severed member, which he reportedly removed with a razor blade under the influence of cannabis.

Paramedics tried to provide pre-hospital treatment to stabilise the man before transferring him to hospital for emergency surgery.

During the apartment inspection, the police found not only the severed body part but also the cannabis next to it.

According to a spokeswoman from the Mainz Police Department, the 47-year-old man used a folding razor to cut off his penis and was under the influence of cannabis.

No further information was given about the background or the man’s health condition, or whether the severed member had been reattached.
