Salt Bae Had US Visa Rejected 9X But Now Gets CIA Escort

Celebrity chef Salt Bae has told fans to “never give up” after revealing that he had applications for US visas rejected nine times but he now says he gets “personally escorted by CIA and FBI agents” through customs.

Salt Bae, 36, real name Nusret Gokce, told Turkish media: “My application for a US visa got rejected nine times in the past. Now when I land, I get personally escorted by CIA and FBI agents to go through customs.”

He added: “So it’s really important to never give up and continue to fight.”

Bae, who employs nearly 2,000 people around the world, said that he consider himself an “ambassador of Turkish culture”.

The celebrity chef, who was born in the Turkish city of Erzurum, said: “I have 28 million social media followers. Anything I post there reaches people around the world. I think that’s one of my biggest contributions to the introduction of Turkish culture to the world.”

The social media star, named for his unique style of sprinkling salt on his culinary creations, owns restaurants in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, New York, Miami, Doha and Mykonos.
