A homeless transgender woman and her boyfriend who decided to broadcast their daily lives living rough on the streets have become so famous they have now opened a beauty salon together.

The 25-year-old trans hairdresser Gabrielly Miguel and the 33-year-old app delivery driver Douglas Martins are also no longer on the streets and now live in a rented home in Santos, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The pair, who had been living on the streets until the beginning of last month (January), had their life changed when they borrowed a mobile phone and started recording their daily life on the streets.

The pair, dubbed the ‘Maloka couple’, now have 2.1 million Instagram followers, and quickly gained fame on social media.

Now they have also promoted the opening of their own beauty salon named ‘Studio Gabrielly Miguel’.

Gabrielly told local media that the house where they live was rented based on a recommendation from a follower, who got in touch to help them.

She said: “She has a house here and, at the moment, she is outside Brazil.

“She made a really nice price to help us and we’ve already signed the contract.

“The house is rented and paid for for six months.”

They told local media that a fundraiser by their millions of followers and a donation from another influencer had helped them to start their business.

Gabrielly said: “He got in touch and asked what was missing [in the house]. He said I should go to a store and he would transfer the amount.

“We bought everything, he made the payment and the things arrived here.

“So then we invested in the salon.”

The couple also said their happiness was almost indescribable, adding: “It is a feeling of great gratitude and happiness.”
