A single dad nearly ended up dancing on a store counter when he realised he had scooped USD 100,000 on a lottery ticket.
Lucky winner Donald Burgess bought the USD-30 (GBP-25) lottery ticket at a convenience store in the town of Calabash, North Carolina State, USA.
When the 61-year-old handyman realised he had won a life-changing USD 100,000 (GBP 83,400), he was so elated that he started jumping up and down inside the store.
Donald – from the town of Ocean Isle Beach – told North Carolina Education Lottery: “I was jumping up and down in the store.
“I could have danced on the counter.
“The store employees and customers were all congratulating me.”
Donald, who bought his winning Fabulous Fortune ticket from the Calabash Food & Fuel on Beach Drive Southwest, said he plans to splash some of the cash on himself and his daughter.
He said: “It will certainly make our lives better.
“I’m a single dad and this really and truly is a blessing.”
Donald collected his prize on 1st March and, after tax, took home USD 71,259 (GBP 59,500).
He said: “I always dreamed something like this would happen, but I never really believed it until now.”
Donald plans to use the remainder of his winnings to settle some bills and pay off his truck.
