HOUSE ABOUT THAT? Man Builds Mini Replica Of Grandparents’ Home

A young Chinese man has amazed his grandparents by building a miniature replica of the family home he shared with them as a child.

The man – identified only as Mr Lu in local media – told how he was raised by grandparents while his parents worked.

Now he has shown them how he will never forget with an astonishingly detailed recreation of their home in Yantai, Shandong Province, China.

Showing off the model, he said: “I have lived with them since I was a child and had a very strong relationship with them.

“I wanted to capture while I still could the flavour of the place where I lived and give them something back to show how much life together meant to me.”

He said that the model had been created using old photographs of his hometown as well as his memories.

His version is 30 times smaller than the real thing, measuring just 65 cm x 40 cm and took more than a month to complete.

Online commentators were amazed at the detail ranging from the ancient tree in the middle of the yard, to the firewood piled up underneath the windows, or the unusual chimney that protruded from the kitchen.

With China currently undergoing a wave of COVID and some people reluctant to travel, the young man only shared a video with the grandparents.

But he revealed that it had delighted them, and distracted them from other worries.

As soon as he feels it safe to travel and the wave of infections is passed, he plans to present it to them personally.
