A man was left screaming in shock after slipping as he struggled alongside a waterfall for a photo opportunity and was dumped into an ice-covered pool.

The footage was shot at the scenic beauty spot on the outskirts of Nanyang, which is a prefecture-level city in the southwest of Henan Province in China.

The man had moved over the ice-covered pool to get to the slope and then have a photograph taken.

But he got too close to the ice-covered part of the cliff at the edge of the waterfall and suddenly found himself slipping, shouting in shock as he picked up speed before plunging into the ice-covered pool below.

As he scrambles back to get back to the shore, he slips in even deeper before scrambling onto the thick ice and continuing to shriek because of the extreme cold.

The man’s friends continued to film and laugh at his misfortune, which included getting his backpack wet, and he then had to make the journey back in the cold as he did not have a change of clothing.

Online commentators noted it was a classic example of not taking pictures in dangerous places such as icy waterfalls.
