Woman Gets Compensation After Discovering Boyfriend Was Married And Had Seduced 10 Other Women By Taking Them To See Same Film

A woman who was taken to see a film and then had sex with her date has been awarded BRL 10,000 (GBP 1,411) for moral damages after she discovered he had taken 10 other women to the same movie – and was married.

The woman claimed that when news of the man’s serial adultery with numerous women he seduced after taking them to watch the 2019 Weird Western film ‘Bacurau’ at different cinemas went viral, it caused her “serious psychological damage”.

The case concerns Brazilian national Leandro Beguoci, who, according to his LinkedIn page, has been the Head of Communications and Public Diplomacy at the UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office since June last year.

The Sao Paulo Court of Justice has now ordered him to pay the Brazilian woman the cash as moral damages for the pain and embarrassment caused.

According to the lawsuit, the complainant maintained a relationship with the defendant until she discovered he was married and had also had sexual relations with at least five other women.

She took to Twitter in 2019 to tell of her boyfriend’s infidelity and was shocked to discover he had been maintaining relationships with even more women – and, as with her, he had taken them all to see the Brazilian-French production ‘Bacurau’.

The story then went viral with the hashtag #Bacurau11, and Beguoci then filed a lawsuit against the woman for libel and defamation, which is ongoing.

In the woman’s opposing lawsuit, she claimed the defendant had had unprotected sex with her.

According to Beguoci’s LinkedIn page, he was awarded a Master’s degree from LSE in Communications and Media Studies in 2010.

He also worked as an op-ed writer for the Folha de Sao Paulo, a newspaper of record with the biggest circulation among the largest Brazilian newspapers, from October 2018 to October 2019.

Beguoci has appealed the court’s decision.

The FCDO Communication Team did not reply to an enquiry from Newsflash asking for confirmation that Beguoci is indeed an employee.
