A young bride has died just one hour after getting married in an Egyptian village.
Isra Shaaban, 21, reportedly suffered with fatigue after walking into her new home in Medoum Village in Beni Suef Governorate in northern Egypt after her big day.
The young bride then felt sharp pains in her chest and needed to be taken to hospital.
However, she suffered a heart attack and died at just 21 years of age, sending her family and local area into shock, according to Gulf News.
One villager was quoted as saying: “The bride felt exhaustion and sharp pains in the tummy and chest after the end of the wedding party.
“She asked her family not to leave her. The bride was taken to a hospital where she breathed her last on arrival.”
Her cousin Mohammad Hamed said: “Yesterday, we attended Isra’s wedding where everyone was happy, today, we buried her.”
Local media said the village has been left in shock and many locals attended the young woman’s funeral.
It is unclear if the local authorities are investigating the bride’s death.
A similar incident took place in Egypt several weeks ago when a young woman was suddenly struck down with illness and passed away at a medical centre in Sharqia Governorate days before her big day.
