This heart-stopping footage shows a young girl clinging to the outside of a residential tower block after climbing out the window of her 10th-floor flat in search of her mother.
The five-year-old from the city of Hefei, capital of Anhui Province in East China, lives inside the Riyue Mingdi residential district.
Footage taken by a neighbour on 27th February shows the girl wearing a pink down jacket standing on a 6th-floor building ledge.
The child, whose mother reportedly left her at home alone in order to buy necessities, had climbed down the side of the residential building using the security bars outside each window.
However, she could go no further as the building has no window bars below the fifth floor.
In the video, a group of residents can be seen standing on the ground floor while holding out a large blanket in a bid to catch the girl if she fell.
The fifth-floor window has been opened and neighbour Li Xue steps out onto the ledge to bring the girl safely inside, the clip shows.
Mr Li, 30, said: “I took off my coat and stood on the ledge. Others behind me held on to my clothes as I carried the girl back inside.”
He added: “If it wasn’t me, someone else would’ve saved her, too.”
According to reports, the girl was unharmed and reunited with her mother as she returned to the gated community.
