This is the moment a fast-moving Ferris wheel crashes into its stand causing it to collapse and leaving three people injured.

The incident took place on the ‘Rueda Chicago’ (Chicago Wheel) ride which was at a fair in the community of Santa Maria Xalapan, in the village of Palo Verde, in the department of Jalapa, southeastern Guatemala.

In the video, the Ferris wheel can be seen spinning with people on board when one of the carriages hits the wheel’s stand.

The wheel is then sent off-course and the carriages crash into the stands as people scream.

Local media report the wheel collapsed leaving three people injured but there were no serious injuries. Those injured did not ask to be taken to a hospital, according to reports.

The wheel had been erected next to the Palo Verde church for the local village parties. The cause of the collapse is unknown.

Reports state the person operating the wheel was injured in the incident.

It is unclear if the authorities are investigating the accident and reports state a similar incident occurred in Jalapa on 1st September 2019 which was caused by the wind.
