This is the moment a 14-year-old schoolgirl keels over and dies of a heart attack during a dance practice session.

According to the local police, the young schoolgirl, identified as Pujitha who attended a private school in the village of Gollahalli in the district of Kolar in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, collapsed while dancing with fellow students.

Police superintendent Mohammed Sujeetha told local media: “She was rushed to a private hospital at Bangarpet where doctors declared her dead on arrival.”

He added: “We don’t have details of the unfortunate incident, as her parents did not file a complaint with us while the Vimala Hrudaya High School management have not made a statement so far either.”

A spokesperson for the KL Jalappa Hospital told local media that the 14-year-old died of cardiac arrest, and that efforts to revive her failed as she was already dead by the time she had been rushed into the medical centre.

School heads have has since said that they have cancelled the cultural event that Pujitha and other classmates were practising for.

It is unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the incident further.
