A teenage immigrant has been crushed to death by a lorry he was hiding under to illegally cross the Strait of Gibraltar.

The incident took place in Ceuta, a Spanish autonomous city on the north coast of Africa, when the 15-year-old boy from the town of Martil in Morroco, named in reports as Ilias E., was trying to sneak under the lorry, according to sources from the Spanish Civil Guard.

The authorities suspect that the teen had spotted the lorry parked up and climbed underneath in the hope the vehicle was loaded onto a ship heading for the Spanish peninsula.

However, the lorry had already been unloaded in Ceuta and the driver did not notice the youngster under the vehicle, according to reports.

When the driver set off the youngster is said to have been crushed, with a severe injury to his head, and he died instantly.

The case was reported to the authorities but paramedics could not do anything to rescue him.

Images show the victim’s body on the ground covered in a blanket.

An investigation has been launched to confirm if the case was an accident or if there is someone who shares responsibility for the death.

The death reportedly came in a restricted area where dozens of migrants go daily to try to sneak onto one of the ships and vehicles crossing the Strait of Gibraltar.

The minor had been living near the port for two months seemingly waiting to try to get onto one of the ships.

The driver was not arrested, according to reports.

This is the second death of a young immigrant in the port in less than a year.
