This is the moment a quick-witted rider somehow survives when his scooter is crushed to pieces under the wheels of a large lorry.

The rider surnamed Qin’s ‘near-death experience’, as it has been reported, was captured by a traffic camera at the junction between Yongqiang Avenue and Haigong Avenue in Wenzhou City in East China’s Zhejiang Province.

Authorities say Qin had been attempting a left and decided to cut in front of the heavy goods vehicle despite the heavy traffic and numerous vehicles.

He was struck from behind by the lorry driver, surnamed Zhou, who did not see Qin as the small scooter appeared to be in his blind spot.

The traffic camera footage shows Qin’s scooter being hit from behind and crushed, but the rider leaps off and quickly rolls to his left.

The lorry continues to move and crushes the scooter to pieces, with Qin ‘miraculously cheating death’ as the large lorry wheels roll right past him.

Zhou eventually tops the lorry as the video ends, with Qin clutching his right leg, which police say was injured by his shattered scooter.

He has been taken to hospital and is not in any life-threatening condition.

The authorities are still investigating the case.
