This is the moment a Russian oil workman plummets from 23 feet and is crushed by a falling metal support.
According to local media, the 25-year-old driller was killed when he fell from a crane at an oil field in the south-western Russian region of Saratov Oblast.
Reports said that the victim, identified as Viktor B., worked as a driller assistant at the site.
He was reportedly dismantling equipment when he fell from a height of seven metres (23 feet), according to local media.
In the footage, a heavyset workman is seen moving out of the way as a large metal cylinder falls from above.
The victim appears to be at the end of the metal support and his body is crushed when it slams against the side of a floor opening.
The 25-year-old driller’s body then falls through the hole and lands hard on the ground. Meanwhile, stunned colleagues rush to take a look.
Following a preliminary investigation, it is believed that the workman died of a violation of safety regulations.
However, the local authorities stressed that the full investigation is ongoing and any claims of negligence will be confirmed at a later date.
