This pretty young mother of two has died after her mum’s toy boy lover strangled her to death while raping her.

Yamila Belen Araujo, 24, and her relatives were celebrating Yamila’s mother’s 51st birthday at their home in the city of San Miguel in Argentina’s Greater Buenos Aires region on 28th August.

At around 5am the following morning, Yamila decided to go to her bedroom, with her mother’s partner, 29-year-old Paraguayan national Javier Benitez Ortigoza, accompanying her because she was reportedly drunk.

Javier left Yamila’s bedroom straight away, though a short while later, some of those present attest to seeing him return, and this time he remained alone with her for half an hour.

Yamila’s half-naked dead body was found by one of her sisters at around 2.30pm on Sunday.

Damian, Yamila’s brother, told reporters: “My sister went to bed, he accompanied her and he left the key in the door to return. He raped her and killed her. After killing her, he remained with her for a while.”

At the time of reporting, the post-mortem results were not ready. However, preliminary reports suggest Yamila had abrasions and neck trauma – signs of strangulation.

Damian told reporters: “She had wounds on her arms. She tried to defend herself.”

Javier fled the property at around 8.30am and managed to evade capture for several hours before he was arrested at a cousin’s house in the partido of Malvinas Argentinas in the Greater Buenos Aires region in the early hours of 30th August.

He had been released from prison in May last year for robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.

Despite Javier’s criminal past, Damian told reporters “he had been behaving well”, adding that no one in the family had ever suspected he was capable of such an act.

Yamila, who worked in a pizzeria, leaves behind two children, a girl and a boy.

Javier will be investigated for femicide and could face a life sentence.
