Woman Rescued After 69 Hours

This is the moment a woman is pulled from the rubble of her home 69 hours after it was destroyed by an earthquake.

The woman, identified as 33-year-old Gülsüm Karayalan, was in the wreckage of Kaya Apartment in Meydan Mahallesi in the centre of Sanliurfa province.

A spokesman for the local fire brigade said that it had taken a long time to reach her using a team from neighbouring Mardin and she was taken straight away to the hospital afterwards
in an ambulance.

Meanwhile, search and rescue efforts on the building and others in the region are continuing with the latest death toll indicating that more than 12,000 people have died as a result of the quake and over 60,000 were injured.

There are currently almost 25,000 Turkish emergency workers including soldiers on the ground looking for survivors, and almost 6000 that are flown in specialist equipment and training from abroad.

An additional 5000 vehicles in the region include excavators, tractors, cranes, dozers, trucks, water trucks, trailers, graders and vacuum trucks.
