Two Young Actresses Cause Stir At Cannes For Flaunting Their Hairy Armpits

Two Brazilian actresses have caused a stir by turning up to the Cannes Film Festival with hairy armpits.

Actresses Bruna Linzmeyer and Lara Tremouroux, both aged 28, rocked up at the 74th edition of the famed film festival with their underarms au naturel.

Bruna, who hails from the Brazilian municipality of Corupa, wore a red dress and Lara a black one with both outfits exposing their unshaven armpits.

The two young women posted photos of themselves showing off their underarm hair to Instagram Stories, where Bruna has two million followers and Lara 21,000.

The two young women went against the grain at the ritzy festival, which is known for attracting impeccably well-groomed actors and actresses from around the world.

It is likely that the two young women flaunted their armpit hair to challenge norms and to make a feminist statement.

Indeed, Bruna told online magazine ‘aCriatura’: “Having hair and not wanting to be a mother is not to provoke. It really is who I am.

“It surprises and bothers me that this is an issue for others or a provocation. A woman does not need to be a mother to be a woman. And a grown woman has hair.

“So, the whole hair issue seems to me to be pedophilia, because those who don’t have hair are children, they are girls.

“Why do we have this idea that a woman is sexy without hair? Dirtiness is another issue.

“We women have been removed from our own bodies since forever, but mainly since the Middle Ages, when we were considered witches for existing, for having hair, for being lesbians.

“And for contesting capitalism, for saying ‘I don’t want to work 12 hours a day, I don’t want to be stuck indoors to be a mother’.

Despite her criticisms of capitalism, Bruna could be seen enjoying the high life amongst other film stars at the exclusive festival during which both she and Lara took aim at Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

The two were pictured with their compatriots holding up a sign reading: “533,000 died in Brazil from a disease that already has a vaccine”.

Bruna has previously taken to Instagram to praise women who do not remove their facial hair. She posted a serious of photos of women with moustaches, describing them as “gatas” (“hotties”).
