This is the adorable tuxedo-wearing cat rescued by police after thieves stole a bag containing the pampered puss and a mobile device, which was then used to locate both and capture the crooks.

The Persian cat named Liau was stolen by two thieves who used a clever distracting technique in the city of Barcelona located in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia, on 29th October.

The incident was first reported by police yesterday (Wednesday).

The victims, a man and a woman who have not been named, were in the middle of moving when they were approached by two men on motorcycles who alerted them one of their tyres had a puncture, according to Spanish radio station ‘COPE’. (https://bit.ly/3p1E6gm)

They offered to help them which the victims accepted and placed a bag containing Liau and a tablet mobile device inside their vehicle.

The thieves took advantage of a moment of distraction when they stole the bag and all of its contents before going off on their way, possibly unaware that the cat was also inside.

The victims contacted police and activated a geolocation application from the tablet upon realising they had been robbed.

The local police known as the Mossos d’Esquadra were able to locate Liau along with the tablet and detained two suspects.

They announced the good news in a statement yesterday (Wednesday). They said they found the Persian cat “trembling under a sofa and arrested two thieves”.

It adds the suspects punctured the wheel themselves and used it as an excuse to pretend to want to help the victims.

Local media report the two men that were arrested have a long history of arrests with one having 24 and another 13, according to COPE.

No further information has been offered on the identity of the suspects.
