The youngster’s father was regime victim Kamal Ahmedpour who was reportedly shot dead by police during protests in Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province.

His funeral, also at Mahabad, was attended by hundreds of mourners.

In the footage, the girl is being carried away from the service.

As she peers over the shoulder of a mourner, she cries inconsolably as she sobs and gasps for breath.

Norway-based rights group Hengaw which monitors abuses in Kurdish areas said that the death was part of an escalation in the use of guns by security services to try and crackdown protesters, in particular in the last five days.

They said that the security forces killed at least 25 people in Kurdistan at that time including 23 who were killed by direct fire, one by torture and one by being stabbed.

The crowd had gathered to mark the anniversary of the 2019 crackdown known as bloody November, caused by rising fuel prices.

The latest protests originated with the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died after being arrested by security forces accused of breaching strict rules on how to wear the hijab.

The funeral marks an increase in attempts by security forces to kidnap the bodies of people killed in order to present further violence and unrest during the funerals.

At the funeral of Kamal Ahmedpour protesters chanted slogans against the government including “Kurds, Baloch, Azeri; Freedom and equality.”

Photos and videos of Ahmadpour’s young daughter’s presence at his funeral have been published when relatives described him as a “martyr” and urged that his death not be in vain.
