A photo of two newborn twin sisters sharing a hug in the delivery room has melted hearts in their native Brazil.
Sisters Liz and Beatriz already knew each other from the womb, however their viral hug is believed to be the very first they’ve shared, given the non-identical siblings were attached to different placentas.
Proud mum Luana Guimaraes told local media: “Liz hugged Beatriz like it was ‘phew sis, you’re out here with me’.”
The twin sisters were born in the Brazilian municipality of Balneario Camboriu on an unspecified recent date, and the professional snap was posted on their mum’s Instagram page on 18th February.
The photo was taken by childbirth photographer Bruna Costa, who commented: “It will be so special when they see this moment in the future.”
Parents Luana and Augusto already have three other children, and the mother told local media they always dreamed of having a large family.
The couple planned to have their fourth child this year “but it came a little earlier and a big surprise, twins,” she told local media.
Luana even revealed that the couple’s son had predicted the pair’s arrival. She told local media: “A few days before I found out I was pregnant, my oldest child dreamt I was pregnant with twins.
“When I saw those two babies on that little screen, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it.”
The babies were born at 37 weeks and the whole family is doing well.
