A woman’s pet dog had to be rescued with the help of power suppliers after it jumped off the balcony and landed on top of a 30-foot tall utility pole.

She was shocked to find it sound asleep on there in the middle of the night while waiting for help to arrive.

The bizarre rescue reportedly took place in Chaozhou, a city in the Chinese province of Guangdong, on 1st February.

The woman, named Ms Lin in local media, said it all began when her family got home from a festival and began panicking when they could not find their pet Shiba Inu anywhere.

Ms Lin said they usually kept their dog on the third floor with an open-air balcony, so they could not understand how it went missing.

They searched the entire home and even checked the surveillance cameras, but there was no trace of their pup anywhere.

And they almost gave up when they suddenly discovered the dog had been dozing off on top of a utility pole carrying various cable lines during their frantic search.

Ms Lin said the pup got stuck there after unexpectedly jumping off the high balcony.

The desperate owners had no choice but to call in staff from the local power supplier to help their Shiba off the pole.

The staff came and helped cut the power off at two o’clock in the morning, and provided a long ladder so the family could climb up and rescue the dog.

Afterwards, Ms Lin posted videos of the drama on Douyin, China’s TikTok.

Netizens poked fun at the hilarious event, and many jokingly said they now understand why their power suddenly gets cut off sometimes.
