This horrific footage seen over 20 million times shows a schoolboy beating his teacher on the head with a brick while classmates watch in stunned silence.

The incident happened at Renshou County Chengbei Experimental Junior High School, which is in south-western China’s Sichuan Province, on the afternoon of 24th October.

CCTV footage shows the teacher, Mr Huang, walking into the back of the classroom and preparing to put down his umbrella when his 15-year-old pupil, surnamed Yan, attacks him from behind.

The schoolboy holding a red brick strikes Mr Huang nine times on the back of the head, causing the defenceless staff member to collapse onto the floor as other pupils are left shocked and not knowing how to react.

In the distressing footage, pupils can be seen checking on Mr Huang, whose blood can be seen on the white walls.

As the children hold their heavily injured teacher and others rush to call other faculty members, the same teenager appears to charge at Mr Huang again and again.

He is held back by several of his classmates and prevented from causing further injury, the video shows.

The Renshou County Public Security Bureau said in a statement that Yan had been detained after the incident.

The authorities said Yan had been “unhappy with this teacher’s daily discipline” but did not elaborate on the boy’s motives.

Local media reports citing school staff said the boy had been lectured by Mr Huang a few hours before the attack after he was seen riding his bicycle on campus, against school regulations.

Mr Huang, who is in his 30s, remains in intensive care at Yunchang Hospital, and is in “serious but stable condition” and is only partially conscious, reports said.
