Russia Says It Hit Ukrainian Military Positions With Iskander Missile System

Russia has said that it hit Ukrainian military positions in the Kupiansk region with an Iskander missile.

This footage allegedly shows a Russian Iskander mobile short-range ballistic missile system firing on targets in Ukraine.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Friday, 12th January, along with a statement claiming: “Zapad Group of Forces’ Iskander missile system hit AFU military infrastructure.

“The system was on combat duty. The command to be ready for operation came, after which the crew put the system in readiness for a missile strike. The launch went smoothly. The target has been hit.”

We have not been able to independently verify the claims or the footage.

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation.” Today marks the 691st day of the full-scale war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 15th January 2024. Russia had lost approximately 370,980 personnel, 6,089 tanks, 11,322 armoured combat vehicles, 8,771 artillery units, 958 multiple launch rocket systems. 650 air defence systems, 329 warplanes, 324 helicopters, 6,865 drones, 1,815 cruise missiles, 23 warships, 1 submarine, 11,698 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,356 units of special equipment.

The Ukrainian Chief of Staff noted growing support for President Zelensky’s peace formula. Highlighting increased participation from Europe, Asia, and Africa, emphasising the global significance of resolving the two-year conflict with Russia.

Ukrainian President Zelensky was heading to Switzerland on Monday morning to secure ongoing support amid the approaching second anniversary of the war with Russia.

Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska has predicted that there will be no peace in Ukraine until May 2025, stating in a Telegram post that constructive discussions at Davos on ending the conflict are unlikely due to the absence of a Russian delegation.
