A Guinness World Record bejewelled toilet made of gold and worth over a million GBP is currently being exhibited in China.

The pricey bog, worth 1.3 million USD (1.01 million GBP), is currently on show at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) taking place in the eastern Chinese city of Shanghai.

Local media said the valuable toilet is emblazoned with an incredible 40,815 diamonds, which is a Guinness World Record for most diamonds on a single toilet.

The toilet was created by the Aaron Shum jewellery group based in Hong Kong.

Shum told local media that the item is more for art than practical use, but added that billionaires could probably afford to use it if they so desired.

He said: “The diamond toilet is your best friend.”

The costly commode is not the only unusual item on show at the expo. Visitors can also check out the world’s largest hotpot and a rubbish-sorting robot, according to local media.

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the inception of the annual CIIE even in May 2017 to begin the following year.

The Chinese government launched the event to “give firm support to trade liberalisation and economic globalisation and actively open the Chinese market to the world”.
