QUAD BIKE DEATH TRAGEDY: Mum Drowns While Dad Saves Their Two Kids

A mother-of-two in Pennsylvania has drowned after the quad bike carrying her family was submerged in water while her husband rescued their two children.

The mum has been named as Jamie Uchic and she died after the quad bike that she was riding on with her family overturned in what was initially thought to be a pothole, but the hole was actually over four feet deep.

Her drowning has reportedly been ruled an accident by a coroner in Lackawanna County, which is located in the US state of Pennsylvania.

Her husband, Steve, was able to rescue the couple’s two children – who have not been named by officials – but the 37-year-old woman did not survive.

The woman, of Jermyn, Pennsylvania, died at Aylesworth Park, officials said on Monday, 4th April.

A crowdfunding effort on GoFundMe (www.gofundme.com/f/donate-to-help-the-uchic-family) had notched up over USD 23,500 out of a USD-3,500 goal at the time of writing, despite having only been created 23 hours prior.

The GoFundMe was organised by family friend Ashley Banich, who said: “The Uchic family is not just your ordinary family. They’re a family of love, life and all things fun! From taking something so simple and laughing with it – to finding light in any situation, they know how to enjoy one another and all things around them.

“Jamie was a beautiful soul. She worked in an environment where her needs were last, and others were first, always making sure to do the best she could in any given circumstance. Jamie was a wife to Steve, her other half, who loved everything about her as they were the two best friends and shared so many interests. A mother of two exceptional children, Weston & Arya, raising them to be such incredible individuals that showcase a part of Jamie within themselves. Jamie surrounded herself with great people she valued, loved and considered family.

“At this time, any donation would be amazing to help Steve lessen the burdens of everyday expenses and also in helping her children that were left behind. I know that Jamie would want to make sure they were taken care of in any way possible to better their future. Thank you for your support, time and donation. Jamie was an incredible person, and she deserves to be remembered that way.”
