The footage shows the flames billowing from a fourth-floor flat in the building. Reports said that firefighters and local police rushed to the building after the emergency services received more than 10 phone calls from neighbours warning about the fire.

According to local media, the fire took place on the fourth floor of the building where firefighters managed to rescue 11 people alive and an unnamed 35-year-old woman and a 15-year-old teenager died.

It is unclear if the two victims were family.

Eleven victims were reportedly taken to hospital by the emergency services with a 50-year-old woman and a 15-day-old baby taken to in the Intensive Care Unit (UCI) of the hospital Juan Ramon Jimenez in critical condition.

A firefighter and two police officers were also injured by the rubble that fell from the building.

A 14-year-old girl, a two-year-old child and a nine-month-old child were also taken to hospital but their lives are not at risk.

The rest of the people affected by the fire are all adults and their life is not at risk. Nine of the 11 people rescued lived on the fourth floor and two others on an adjacent floor.

The fire has been extinguished and residents of the building have gone back to their homes today except those who live on the fourth floor which has been closed.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
