The former President of Mexico has become embroiled in an affair scandal after he was snapped spending time with a stunning model during a trip to Spain.

Rumours have previously circulated that the 57th President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, 52, and his wife Angelica Rivera, 49, were set to get divorced and they have been further fuelled by Nieto’s trip to the Spanish capital Madrid.

Nieto was snapped meeting up with 31-year-old Mexican model Tania Ruiz Eichelmann in Madrid along with two other men who have not been identified in reports.

Former President Nieto and Eichelmann have reportedly known each other for a long time as the former president is a family friend of the Eichelmann’s. 

Mexican newspaper ‘Reforma’ report a mutual friend of the pair says nobody knows how long they have been together, but they are very much “in love”. 

Reports state “the couple was residing for some time in Madrid”.

However, neither Nieto nor Eichelmann has confirmed or denied the romance.

The last time Nieto was seen in public with his wife of nine years was at the funeral of the father of the Governor of the State of Mexico on 11th January, according to local media.

Eichelmann, who has 170,000 social media followers, regularly shares snaps online and has received plenty of comments about the alleged affair. 

Netizen ‘kokorroo’ commented: “How much did he pay you to be his ‘girlfriend’?”

And ‘jhon_snow26’ added: “Share photos with Pena Nieto.”

Eichelmann is the mother of a four-year-old girl.
