A jealous husband who suspected his wife had cheated on him hired a hitman to murder her as punishment and then cut her wrists to make it look like suicide.

The body of the young woman, Lale Bayram, aged just 25, was found dead in the bathroom of her house in Sultanbeyli district of North-western Turkish city of Istanbul.

According to the local news site Haberler’s report, the landlord, who was identified only as Yasin Y, had called police on 20th March when he had failed to reach his tenant, Lale, who had rented his house some 6 weeks earlier.

The landlord was worried there was a problem after saying that he could hear no noise from inside the property, and after police arrived, he let them inside with a spare key.

Police found Lale dead in the bathroom in what was an apparent suicide.

But after discovering that there had been repeated violent attacks by the young woman’s ex husband, Yasin A., 30, he was arrested and listed as a suspect.

After questioning, his friend Servet K., 32, was detained a day later and police now say he was the hitman who was hired to kill her.

Police say Yasin and Servet were from the same area and knew each other, and that Servet had offered to win justice for his neighbour by murdering her.

He reportedly said: “If you want, we can kill your ex-wife and you will get your revenge.”

Police teams determined that Servet told his friend Yasin that he could do the murder for TRY 8.500 (GBP 800) and the two agreed.

Accordingly, he managed to gain access to her home where he cut her wrists in the bath in order to make it seem like a suicide.

Suspects Yasin and Servet both remain in custody after the statements were taken at the Public Security Branch Office.
