This 73-year-old Algerian man has finally found his mother aged 93 who was forced to abandon him when he was only two-months-old by her violent ex-husband.
The Algerian woman, named Yamina, fled to France when she was 20 years old, leaving her two-month-old son Abdel Rahman and her abusive husband behind in their home in Algeria in North Africa.
Rehman grew up without his mother, but at the age of 14, he embarked on a search to find her, never anticipating that his search would last 59 years.
After six decades of searching, Rehman has finally managed to find his now 93-year-old mother Yamina, with the help of his aunt who was reportedly once in touch with his mother, according to local media.
On learning that his mother was living in the French city of Lyon, Rehman, who was in Belgium at that time, immediately set out for her location.
He soon discovered his mother was in an elderly care home having recently suffered a stroke.
Rehman said: “I have been looking for my mother all my life and I have never been discouraged from finding her. I always believed that my mother was alive.
“But my happiness was not complete because the doctors did not allow my mother to come with me.”
On the other hand, his mother Yamina says that she was completely alone throughout the years, and now suddenly she had a family again.
She said that just like her son, never gave up hope of returning to Algeria and finding him.
