This 27-year-old man freed from prison just five months ago has been arrested after shooting dead his ex and her mum in front of their two-year-old child.

The murder took place in the municipality of Ingeniero Budge in the Lomas de Zamora Partido in the Buenos Aires province in north-eastern Argentina.

According to local media, the murder happened in the house where Miguel Alexander Sosa’s partner, Marianela, 24, lived with her mother Laura Rivas, 46.

Reports said that Sosa, who had been released from prison five months ago, went to the house in the afternoon and allegedly threatened Marianela physically and verbally during an argument.

He then allegedly shot his former lover and her mum dead.

Local media report that Marianela and Sosa’s two-year-old was in the house together with Marianela’s mother Laura Rivas, her aunt and two cousins.

Marianela and her mum were allegedly shot by Sosa when the mother went to help her daughter after she heard them arguing.

The alleged killer reportedly fled in a Volkswagen Suran that belonged to Marianela but he was arrested by local police around midnight not far away in a nearby street.

Local police reportedly found the car parked and the gun that was used to murder the women in the backyard of a nearby house.

A relative of Laura and Marianela whose name has not been reported told local media: “His relatives and people who are with him have threatened us. I saw him at the police station when I went to give a statement and he said to me: “I will be out in two hours, this is nothing.”

The suspect went into prison in July 2018 accused of armed robbery but was released in October 2019.

The investigation continues.
